In the Elena blast furnace, we combined the use of Sol-Gel technology from the Drytech® range with the Alfranjet® application method, an innovation that was received well by the client. The reduction in application and drying times, as well as the increased performance of the product during operations were the main advantages achieved by Acerías Paz del Río. Two supplies and installations of 300 metric tons each were carried out. The technique consisted in readjusting the thickness of the heat treatment in the kiln, surpassing 3 years of continuous operations without hot spots appearing and without the need for intermediate interventions.
